We are at an important fork in the road when it comes to US infrastructure of all kinds. So says Dr. Henry Petroski , a professor of both history and civil engineering at Duke University in his new book "The Road Taken," a fascinating look at the history of infrastructure in the US, and how the decisions made in the past relate to issues and decisions being made today. Petroski calls for a significant increase in US infrastructure investment to maintain competitiveness, but notes many ways even current money could be spent much more smartly to achieve better results, such as with the timing of road maintenance, where a bit early intervention could save big dollars down the road (pun intended). Watch Petroski and SCDigest editor Dan Gilmore discuss all this and more in this fast-paced video.
