“The public launch of Perfect Pick at ProMat just over two years ago, generated an enormous amount of interest in our first-of-its-kind robotic order picking technology,” stated Jeff Hedges, President of OPEX Material Handling.

“To date, Perfect Pick systems have been installed for iHerb, BHFO, NewEgg and Petzl. A second Perfect Pick installation is well underway at iHerb’s newest D.C. located in Perris, California, as part of a long term growth strategy to replicate the Perfect Pick system across other locations. OPEX is also installing a 3-aisle Perfect Pick for L'Oreal’s Salon Centric division, one of the largest wholesale salon and beauty supply distributors in the United States.”

iHerb, a pure-play Internet retailer of natural products, installed the first and largest Perfect Pick system to date.

The 10-aisle Perfect Pick allows iHerb to process up to 40,000 orders a day. “Perfect Pick has about three times the labor efficiency compared to our other batch-based distribution center and processes orders in one-tenth the time. Perfect Pick allows us to meet our same day shipping goals – we can get an order through our system in about 15 minutes,” states Troy Van Wormer, Director of Operations, at iHerb.

BHFO, eBay’s top fashion retailer, consolidated their operations into a 240,000 square foot highly automated facility located in in Cedar Rapids, IA, in March of this year. At the heart of the new D.C. is a 4-aisle Perfect Pick system, which permits BHFO to ship over 200,000 products more quickly and accurately to their customers.

BHFO can now deliver over 95 percent of their domestic orders within one day. “We researched a number of different systems and determined that Perfect Pick was a great fit for us because of its scalability. We won’t outgrow Perfect Pick like other systems we considered. Also, OPEX had us up and running in just four months,” related Stacie Sefton, CEO.

When NewEgg, a leading electronics e-tailer, decided to invest in a new 500,000 square foot distribution center in Indianapolis, IN, they chose Perfect Pick to enable them to get their products into the hands of their customers quickly and economically. The 2-aisle Perfect Pick system boasts front- and back-end workstations, which allows NewEgg to pick and replenish simultaneously. Kunal Thakkar, Vice President of Operations, related, “Employee training on Perfect Pick is quick and easy thanks to its screen and light directed picking, which also increases order accuracy.”

Petzl was looking to increase the efficiency and accuracy of their order fulfillment operations at their new state-of-the-art LEED certified facility in Salt Lake City, UT. Petzl was keen to showcase OPEX’s cutting edge order fulfillment technology, which reduced their picking operations from four workers to just one. In explaining what sold Petzl on Perfect Pick, Jeff Wood, Supply Chain Director, states, “The Perfect Pick system was far more reasonably priced than other good-to-person systems we considered. As our business grows, we have the ability to add iBOTs and another pick station for increased throughput at minimal cost and without affecting our footprint…OPEX has been a steller business partner!”

Recently, the tremendous response to Perfect Pick led OPEX to purchase a local 41,400 square foot facility to bring the manufacture of Perfect Pick’s large-scale racking structure entirely in-house. “This is a logical extension of a very successful business model for us,” stated David Stevens, President and CEO of OPEX, “and a logical extension of our philosophy of customer service.
