We're in the news with the construction of a new 225,000 SF distribution facility for SMH in Olathe, KS.
Abel Womack and Systems Material Handling in Olathe, KS partnered to bring a new 225,000 SF distribution facility online. The project was so successful that a new 100,000 SF expansion of the facility was completed at the end of last year.
SMH consolidated four warehouses into its new distribution center. Abel Womack developed a material handling solution for the new facility that included:
- Speed Rack selective pallet racking, shelving, pushback racking
- Remstar horizontal carousels
- Two different Hytrol and Automotion conveyor systems with zone delivers
- Buckhorn totes
- A mezzanine
- Radio Beacon warehouse management and warehouse control system with Symbol handheld radio-frequency scanners that are supported by the facility's Wi-Fi system.
The expansion included a second level pick module.
